Boart Longyear Marketing Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah
This leadership position is part of the global product management team, collaborating with Sales organizations around the world. The primary responsibility is marketing for the Products division, working cross-functionally internally and with external suppliers. This includes drill rigs, aftermarket offerings, exploration tools, and mining production tools. The Marketing Manager drives the brand identify and supports other divisions in promoting Boart Longyear.
The ideal candidate brings five to ten years of hands-on product related marketing experience, both as a leader and an individual contributor. A proven ability to translate technical information into compelling benefits and customer values is critical. B2B marketing experience is required, with a preference for industrial products.
The right candidate is a self-starter with creative ideas, a positive and proactive attitude, and experience or skills in leveraging a full range of marketing tools across various channels. The ability or track record to work across cultures and time zones is a plus.
5-10 years of relevant experience in product related marketing roles.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or journalism preferred. An MBA is a plus.
Experience developing marketing strategies in-line with corporate plans and product goals.
Ability to build sales training materials for internal use and with customers.
Demonstrated skills, knowledge, or experience in the creating and distributing marketing materials.
Excellent communication and writing skills. Proven writing and editing skills for case studies, editorial articles, press releases, newsletters, and product catalogs and brochures.
Experience in the design and production of print materials and other marketing collaterals.
Tradeshow organizing and support experience.
Demonstrated leadership and strong project management skillset.
Ability to work cross-functionally on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
Research skills and the ability to analyze, summarize and consolidate information.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programs including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
Working knowledge of image editing and page layout software programs (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and Illustrator).
Familiarity with social media platforms and management software.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Build annual marketing plans by Product Line and budgets. Align with regional budgets.
Indirectly increase sales through higher customer satisfaction. Synthesize voice-of-customer based on structured customer feedback, experiences, values, and perceptions, in cooperation with Sales, Product Managers, and Drilling Services.
Manage external and internal resources for tracking Boart Longyear market share to identify gains, losses, trends, and opportunities.
Drive Sales Enablement through marketing and training. Combine various contents and ensure Sales has current, accurate, effective, and complete materials on hand.
Drive marketing for product launches, in line with launch schedules and budgets. Partner with personnel globally to ensure effective implementation of campaign launches.
Supervise external Product marketing materials with targeted messaging. Support customer segmentation and build personas.
Supervise development of collateral contents such as catalogs, brochures, case stories, flyers, and presentations. Perform basic desktop publishing to create or update materials.
Provide writing expertise to higher level contents, such as white papers and articles. Review user manuals and materials supporting the products.
Manage overall Boart Longyear brand.
Align external marketing with adjacent divisions, Drilling Services and Geological Data Services, leveraging shared external resources and supporting specific activities.
Supervise digital product related marketing, including internet, video/animation, social media/outreach, email campaigns, and generation/follow-up of digital sales leads.
Create tradeshow strategy, including budgeting, planning, and execution of large tradeshows. Liaise with internal teams (IT, EHS and HR primarily) to ensure tradeshow strategy is well understood, including representing the company as a possible career choice.
Define, prioritize, communicate, and maintain a pipeline in the project tracking system.
Create and track marketing budget.
