As an Entry-Level Driller Helper, you will play a crucial role in supporting the drilling team in various drilling operations. You will work under the guidance and supervision of experienced drillers, learning the essential skills and techniques required for safe and efficient drilling activities. Your contributions will directly impact the success and completion of drilling projects. Successful Driller Helpers will be able to learn vital skills and embark on a training program that will develop them into potential future Boart Longyear Drillers! Due to our great training program, we can welcome individuals of all backgrounds, if you have a desire to work hard and learn new skills in the drilling industry.

Boart Longyear has Drill Rig sites located throughout the USA, and this position is considered an on the road position. Typical work schedules are 14-20 days on, followed by 7-10 days off. When you’re on, you will be stationed in lodging near your rig site. Employees are paid for travel to and from their rig sites.

Our drilling services are the global industry leaders in the application of rotary, core, sonic and percussive drilling. Our global teams of surface and underground drillers are skilled, knowledgeable, safety-focused and committed to our customers and our business. Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant certifications a plus).

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and physical fitness to handle heavy equipment and perform manual labor.

  • Ability to work in physically demanding and challenging environments.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • Safety-conscious mindset and commitment to adhering to safety protocols.

  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations.

  • Ability to work on the road schedule – 14 or 20 days on, 7 or 10 days off – 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up and preparing drilling equipment, tools, and machinery at the drilling site.

  • Help maintain and clean drilling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Carry out basic routine maintenance tasks on drilling equipment.

  • Load and unload drilling equipment, tools, and materials from trucks or storage areas.

  • Assist in transporting drilling supplies, pipes, and other materials to and from the drilling site.

  • Assist drillers in rigging up and rigging down drilling equipment.

  • Operate machinery and equipment under the direction of experienced drillers.

  • Monitor drilling parameters and equipment gauges during drilling operations.

  • Help with the assembly and disassembly of drilling rigs as needed.

  • Help in maintaining a clean and organized drilling site.

  • Perform general labor tasks, including digging, trenching, and site preparation.

  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to the drilling team.

  • Actively engage in on-the-job training to develop drilling-related skills.

  • Seek opportunities to expand your knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and procedures.
