About the role
We are looking for an experienced, passionate and action-oriented individual to manage the environment, health, safety and training (EHST) function for Asia Pacific.
The role’s key focus is to partner with leaders and field operations to further develop Boart Longyear’s existing safety culture while endeavouring to deliver and continually improve upon EHST performance. This Perth-based role will be responsible for managing a team of field-based EHST Advisors based in the APAC Region and specialists in injury management and systems.
Duties and responsibilities:
Adopt an effective, strategic approach to EHST for sustained APAC Region performance.
Conduct routine workplace audits, including rig inspections to monitor work activities and ensure client, company and government regulatory compliance.
Respond to incidents and conduct swift post-incident investigations as required.
Partner with field staff to manage client performance expectations while maintaining necessary compliance documentation – client, company and government legislation.
Develop compliant EHST plans, programs and procedures that align with client, company and government legislature, amending and distributing when necessary.
Conduct regular risk assessments, providing relevant and timely advice.
Oversee and ensure timely completion of Critical Risk Reviews.
Develop and finalise tenders and site-specific Safety Management Plans.
Engage regularly with client safety representatives.
Regularly liaise and work closely with training personnel to ensure timely, effective implementation of internal and external training initiatives and programs.
Engage management/supervisors to ensure attendance at all mandatory training.
The successful applicant must possess:
A minimum five years’ field-related experience.
Degree or Diploma-educated with an emphasis on industrial and OHS regulatory laws and compliance.
Certificate IV – Training and Assessment (desirable)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Understands the importance and need to uphold and develop positive business relationships.
Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Conversant with Microsoft’s suite of Office tools.
Preparedness to travel, as required, to work sites which may include site visits.
Valid driver’s licence with a safe driving history.
